What are you thankful for?

During this time of the year people are celebrating holidays. When I think about the holidays, Thanksgiving comes to mind. I remember when I was younger, the teachers in school would make you write about what are you thankful for. I remember writing about being thankful for my family. Growing up was great. We were not rich, but I still had a lot to be thankful for. We used to play all kinds of sports outside, together, as a family, and that’s what kept us connected. As I think on being thankful, I can name plenty of things that I’m thankful for. I’m thankful for my whole family, not just my husband, and our children, but everyone outside of the family we created. I might not have the same connection with my siblings that we had when we were children, but I’m thankful for every single one of them. Each sibling of mine has taught me something different. They have given me good advice, made me tough, and constantly acknowledge when I’m doing right, or wrong. I’m thankful for my husband, he helped me, when I was dealing with insecurities, he supported me, when I thought I wanted to model, and act. While I’ve been in school, he has pick up extra duties to help me out around the house. I have also learned a lot from him because he is so smart. The decisions I’ve made in life, whether they were good, or bad, he supported me, that’s why I’m thankful for him. My children are another thing that I’m thankful for. My children taught me how to be a mom by showing me how to be patient, forgiving, and loving. They always know when to say the right things, to make me smile. Though sometimes I want to break down, and throw the towel in on parenting, when I look at them, I realized why I wanted to become a mother. I’m thankful for my health, there’s been times when I wasn’t eating healthy, I was out of shape, internally, and my body kept on going. Lastly, I can’t forget my friends. I meet people everywhere I go, from the grocery store, to the mall, I make friends easily. I love my friends, and I treat them like my family. My friends were my friends first, then they graduated into my family. Though I don’t get to talk to them often, when we meet up, we always pick up where we left off. Where ever you are in life right now, no matter how difficult you might think it is, there’s always something to be thankful for. When you can see the rainbows during the storm, you’ll survive any weather. I have had bad days, but no matter how bad it got, I still managed to find things to be thankful for. So, remember today, be thankful for what you have. Even if what you have is a one-bedroom apartment, with no furniture, be thankful for it. When you live your life being thankful, you will always be complete. When you don’t have a thankful spirit, you are never at peace. If you have a thankful spirit, no matter where you are in life, you will always be satisfied.
