Taking care of your mental health is important. It’s one of the reasons why I enjoy working out. Working out is a stress reliever. When I’m in the gym I leave all my worries at the door. I can recall times when I didn’t feel like going to the gym, but I made myself go.
Regular exercise has been known to help people with depression, anxiety, stress, and ADHD. It also improves memory, help you sleep, and improve your overall mood. Boom! That should be enough to make anyone sign up. That’s the reason why I prioritize physical fitness. I don’t go to the gym 6-7 days a week because I need the perfect physique. It’s my therapy. It’s the only time I can take all my focus off what is going on in my life, listen to my music through my ear buds, and get in the zone. Nothing matters while I am there. I value my workouts. Every muscle I work out I focus on the contraction practicing the mind muscle connection with each repetition. The gym is my happy place. I guess that’s why I enjoy going so much.
When I have a tough day working out is one of the things that helps improve my mood. That’s why I believe it’s important to work out before you start your day. Instead of starting your day with coffee opt for a protein shake instead. Just kidding. You can still have your coffee, but the workout is what’s going to pump you up for your day. I have talked in the past about the importance of starting your day right. Fitness can be one of the ways you can start your day. The right mindset is important because this will dictate your day. Of course, there’s going to be all sorts of annoyances but if you start your day right you will be able to approach these situations correctly without getting your blood pressure up.
Our mental health is important. It’s what helps us function in life. When we are not healthy mentally it not only effects our brain it also effects our whole body. Exercising was one of the things that helped save me mentally. So, I encourage you to take control of your body and get your mental health in check. Exercise isn’t just important for our physical health it’s also beneficial to our mental health.
“Exercise is the single most powerful tool you have to optimize your brain function...exercise has a profound impact on cognitive abilities and mental health. It is simply one of the best treatments we have for most psychiatric problems.”-John Ratey
