Do You Really Want a Solution?

People like to complain to me. I know I’m the therapist to many but sometimes I wonder if these people who ask me for advice really want a solution. I know there are times when we all just need someone to vent to but if you are tired of a situation you are in why not look for a solution?

One thing I try not to do is complain. Mainly because I knew that complaining doesn’t change my situation. Only I can. I know that I am in control of my life. If I want to make a change it starts with me doing something different. For example, people complain to me about their job. They want another job, but they rather complain about the one they have then fill out applications for another job. This is one reason why I believe people don’t really want a solution. Why? Because if they had a solution then they wouldn’t have anything to complain about.

90% of people who cross my path either complain, talk negative, or talk badly about others. When I give them advice they act as if they are listening or they question my logic. They ask me how I can be so positive? I tell them there’s no point in being negative. If you don’t like something, then change something in your life. They are not bad people because they complain. We all have our struggles but complaining just allows people to stay in their current situation.

I have wonderful friends and family that I love to hang out with but if they are complaining I rather stay home. Complaining is negative energy and when you are constantly around negative energy it will eventually start to rub off on you. It’s easier to spread negativity then positivity that’s why children learn bad habits over good habits.

I recently wrote about how majority of Americans dislike their job which also means they complain to their friends or their significant other about their job. If people put more effort into finding what makes them happy then less Americans would be unhappy at their place of employment.

So why is it that people like complaining. It’s conversational. It makes the day go by even if it’s toxic energy. It’s easier to complain then find a solution. No one wants to put in the work if they don’t really have to. So, what should you do? Honestly if you want better you must stop complaining.

Complaining is bad for your soul. If you want to fix your life it starts with taking action. You must stop blaming yourself, your family, your relationships, and everything else around you. I know you’re tired of everything you are going through. You will overcome but it starts with getting rid of the complaint and finding a solution.

“If you have time to whine and complain about something then you have the time to do something about it.” -Anthony J. D’Angelo
