“Make Today so awesome that yesterday gets jealous.”-millennialboss
Getting up early isn’t always easy but developing a good morning routine will help make your mornings better. Most people complain that they are not morning people. They dread getting out of bed in the morning and rather sleep in. If you want a productive day it starts with getting up early in the morning. I believe in the saying “the early bird gets the worm.” I can accomplish so much before noon if I get up early. Of course, there are days when I know I can sleep a little later but even when I do that, I feel like I’m wasting part of my day. Sleeping is good for overall health. It’s important to get adequate amounts of sleep each day rather you’re working a morning shift or a night shift job. Getting the appropriate amount of sleep is going to aid in your overall wellbeing. Getting your rest is also going to fuel your morning as well so having a good morning routine starts with getting adequate rest the night before.
Each night before you sleep you need to work on your to do list for the next day. Take ten minutes to devote to planning for tomorrow. I wrote previously about the benefits of creating a list because I believe it’s important. So many people who have followed my advice and made a simple to do list have found they got more things done then before when they didn’t have a to do list. Having a plan for your day is going to help you stay organized. I hate trying to figure out what I have planned so making a list helps me when I lose my focus.
When you wake up exercise. I’m not talking about an intense workout. I want you to perform a mini workout to get your body awake. Start with simple exercises such as jumping jacks, planks, different stretches, and yoga poses to get your blood flowing. This workout shouldn’t exceed past five minutes. This is only to help your body wake up and should not be counted as your workout for the day. This mini workout will give you the same boost as coffee and you’re burning a few calories so it’s a win win. Since I don’t drink coffee in the morning exercise is my caffeine. After you have completed your workout drink 8 ounces of water. This will help wake up your organs and get your body ready for your breakfast. You can add lemon or lime to enhance your water as well.
After you finish your water you may make your breakfast and then read something positive to jump start your day. Your morning routine should be devoted to you. Your morning routine doesn’t include the time you need to get yourself dressed for work so make sure you devote 30 minutes to an hour to your morning ritual. Taking an hour to focus on yourself holds numerous benefits. This is your time to unplug don’t get on social media or YouTube. Eliminate distractions and focus on how you will choose to conquer your day. I like to do this while the house is quiet, and my kids and husband are still sleeping. Invest in a devotional or some type of book that is motivational that you can read quickly in the morning.
When you are establishing a morning routine you don’t want to feed your mind with negativity so nourish it with good things because this will help you have a great day. Social media can be toxic, and our brain feeds off what we feed it, so you must make sure you’re feeding it good things. If you’re trying to have a productive morning reading thing helps uplift, you and give you the motivation to conquer your day. Also listening to an audio book or music is an alternative to reading a book. There are so many podcast and motivational music artist that can motivate and enhance your daily morning ritual.
Establishing a good morning routine is important when you are trying to make changes in your life. I try to start my day with greatness, and this is possible by establishing a routine that will help me before I go to sleep and when I wake up. Waking up and going to sleep at the same time is also beneficial to your success. So, when you decide to develop a night and morning routine keep this in consideration. Also, you can’t wake up without a plan so establishing a morning routine will ensure that you have a productive day. If you want to accomplish your goals, you must create a plan every day. Each day should be pulling you closer to accomplishing your goals. If you start with changing the way you do your morning routine, you will see a significant change in your life. Each night before bed plan for the next day and go to bed early so you can get adequate sleep. Wake up early, workout, drink water, eat a healthy breakfast, feed your brain with positivity, and get your day started.
It takes 21 days to form a habit so give this a try for at least 21 days and notice how much it will make a difference in your life. When I started devoting time to myself each morning it impacted my life completely and each week my morning routine time increased because I realized the more I devoted to myself, the better I was for everyone else. Lastly always remember each day is a blessing and before you go to bed and when you wake always remember to thank God for allowing you to grace the earth with your presence and the experience of a new day.
