The Best Vegan Plant-Base French Toast

French toast is one of my favorite recipes to make for breakfast when I was a child. I used to make them myself with egg, milk, and vanilla extracts. After starting my vegan diet, I didn’t think I would be able to enjoy them again. I tried several French toast recipes but none of them compared to my childhood French toast. This weekend I decided to give the recipe another try.


I had some silken tofu in the refrigerator that I bought to make this recipe but as the days went by I never got to it. I wanted to surprise the kids with a new breakfast this weekend, so my mind remembered the silken tofu.


This French toast recipe is so easy, made with affordable ingredients, and delicious. Feel free to choose your bread of choice. I used sprouted grain bread, but any bread will work. If you are gluten free, choose a bread that does not have wheat.


This recipe yields eight whole slices of bread, feel free to cut them in different shapes to make it fun for the kiddos. This recipe is child friendly, which makes for an easy breakfast the whole family can enjoy. If you make this recipe, tag me on Facebook and let me see your creation.

Vegan French Toast Serving 4

Ingredients

8 Slices of Bread of Choice

1 Pack of Refrigerated Silken Tofu

½ Tsp Salt

½ Tsp Cinnamon

1 Date

½ C Homemade Almond Milk (use this recipe from blog)

Coconut Cooking Spray

Maple Syrup

Optional Toppings

Vegan Powdered Sugar

Blue Berries

Raspberries

Vegan Chocolate Drizzle (melted vegan chocolate)

Directions:

Blend together french toast ingredients in a high-speed blender until smooth thick consistency.

Pour mixture into bowl and place your bread of choice into the mixture. Coat both sides of the bread with the mixture.

Heat skillet to medium heat, spray cooking oil, and place bread into skillet turning once after 3-4 minutes or when it starts to brown on the bottom.

Top with toppings of choice and maple syrup.
