Why you need to stop drinking sodas?

Sodas are not really good for our body. They contain a lot of sugar and they don’t have nutritional value. I remember in my high school years when I use to love drinking sodas. I would have a soda over water any day. Though I did drink a lot of water I consumed more sodas and juice than normal.

Taking care of your body is important. I stop drinking sodas years ago. It’s been so long that I don’t remember the year I stopped. I didn’t do it because of what a physician told me. I stopped drinking sodas because I started developing excessive acne on my face and body. When I consumed a lot of sugar it caused me to break out. When I looked at how much sugar was found in sodas I immediately stop drinking them. It wasn’t hard for me to stop because I care about my body and my health. So if something is causing me harm no matter how much I like it. I get rid of it. Sodas may not cause you to break out all over your body but they were not good for your body. It took years for the acne scars to clear up on my body. I wouldn’t wear certain outfits because I didn’t want anyone to see my acne scars. It created an insecurity for me.

Consuming high level of sugar causes multiple side effects. Acne being one of them. When we consume sugar the pancreas response by releasing insulin, which is a hormone that absorb the sugar into our cells and then reduces the blood sugar levels. Consuming high levels of sugar elevates the insulin levels which increase the IGF-1 levels and the IGF-1 bioavailability. Insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1) is a poly peptide hormone similar to insulin. It’s important to the body because it plays a role in stimulating growth during child hood and building and repairing muscle tissues in adults. Elevated IGF-1 levels increases sebum production, our pore size, and causes acne. When you are consuming high doses of sugar you are more prone to acne. It’s best to consume natural sugars that comes from fruit and sweeteners such as honey, or agave and maple syrup. Moderation is the key.

Sugar also causes inflammation. According to a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition when consuming 1 or 2 12 oz. cans of soda per day it increases inflammation in our body by 87% all the way up to 105%. Increase in inflammation causes food allergies, stomach problems, and aggravates acne. It also causes Candida is a type of fungal found in humans and animals. It’s harmless unless the Candida yeast is overgrowth. Overgrowth causes problems to the skin and the stomach. Overgrowth on the skin causes inflammation and acne.

In conclusion it’s best to eat food with a low Glycemic index level. The Glycemic index is the ranking of carbohydrates in food according to how they affect our blood glucose levels. High Glycemic foods would be sugar and refined carbs such as white bread and pasta. Low Glycemic index foods would be whole grains and most fruits.

If you are having problems with your skin or your gut its best to evaluate your diet to figure out what may be causing problems to your body. I constantly monitor my body and pay attention to how it responds to different types of foods. Something that may give me problems may not give someone else problems. I just have to do what works for me. If you enjoy drinking sodas try to cut back on the consumption amount because they really are not good for your body.

I’m not an expert but sugar has been linked to multiple disease and it effects your whole body inside and out. Part of transforming your body, mind, and soul starts with cleansing your body of things it doesn’t need. Our health is so important to our life. We can’t function when our body is out of equilibrium. So I want you to join me as I continue this journey of loving myself and transforming my whole body, mind, and soul. You only get one body only you can decide how to take care of it.
